Urbanism: Designing the City We Want to Inhabit

September 23, 2026

An editorial perspective on urban resilience, community, and development

For AVENUE 14, discussing urbanism means looking at how cities respond to their inhabitants and to changes within the territory. The editorial proposal draws on references such as Jaime Lerner, Antanas Mockus, Alayo, and Central de Arquitectura to open a conversation around resilience, community-led management, density, and real estate development. From this perspective, a city is understood not only through its buildings, but also through the relationships it creates among its inhabitants, its public spaces, and its surroundings. Urbanism thus becomes part of the issue as a tool for considering how to build more livable cities with a vision for the future.
